[Page 1] Kelt Vilmány 1936 oktober 28 elsöb is igy szólok hozátok kedves bátyám dicsértesék az úr Jézus krisztus szent neve mindöröké amen. kedves bátyám tudatlak a szomorú helyzetem felöl elsöb is az egészségem ami a legföbb nem olyan mint amilyen kelene mert aza disznó köszvény anyira ront különösen mostanába hogy alig tudok mozogni és a töbi bajok pedig gyünek utána nem elég hogy már 8 éve özvegy kenyeret eszek de még a gyerekeimbe sem gyönyörködhetek
[Page 2] mert olyan mesze vanak hozám hogy az egyikhez 14 pengő a másikhoz 10 pengő utikölcség kel hát hol tudok én özvegy létemre enyit keresni de ha nekik muszály meni a kenyér után ebe a nyomorult magyar országba mert retenetes a helyzet azért kedves bátyám nagyon kérlek ne vesd meg kérésem amire kérlek és a kedves lányaidat mert ők is tudnak segiteni ha akarnak kedves bátyám ithol voltak amerikából töben nyaralásra és azt mondták aki csak
[Page 3] tud irni vagy akinek van valakije oda kint hát mindenki írjon és kérjen segélyt mert retenetes ruha nélküliség van ithol tehát ugy tesznek kedves bátyám hogy ot az angoloktól kérnek és hazaküldik a hozá tartozókhoz ugy hogy sok része mázsás csomagot is kap tehát kedves bátyám és kedves mariska legyet szives és ne szégyeljetek tik sem így gyűjteni és nekem elküldeni mert 7 ruha nélküli onokám van akikre minden legkiseb rongyot

[Page 4] is feltunná a lányom használni mert enyi sok gyerekre nagyon sok kel és az apjok is a háborút sínyli mert négy és fél évet ot tudot el és én magam is bizon igen rosz helyzetbe vagyok tehát nagyon kérlek beneteket ne vesétek meg a kérésem Isten meg fog érte jutalmazni és ha megtenétek a szeretet hajoval külgyétek mert az olcsó prics portba nagyon sok ilyen gyüjtést rendeznek és a leg gazdagabak is elhordják az angolok ruháját hát akor olyan szegény mint mi vagyunk Isten nevébe fogadjuk és köszönjük ezel zárva soraimat maradok hű

[Page 5] kedves bátyám nagyon kérlek csak légyszives ted meg amire kérlek és irjál mindjárt mert nagyon fogom várni és ird meg kedves testvér hogy mit küldtél nekem már ezelöt egy pár éve mert egy karácsonyi angol üdvözlet jöt egy ajánlot levélbe egyéb semi de én akor nem laktam idehaza hanem a fiamnál voltam a tisza melet de majd csak idövel adták át nekem hát volte valami a levélbe vagy csak az a lap irjál valamit a vilma lánya felöl is és mindenkiröl
[Page 6] tudom kedves testvér hogy én neked olyan vagyok mint valami idegen mert gyerek voltam amikor láttál de gondold meg hogy én itmaradtam egyedül szülők és testvérek nélkül és már 8 éve özvegyen mert még az uram élt semi bajom nem volt de most a gyerekeim is ily távol vanak tőlem hát híd el majd a csábulás ölmeg és legaláb az ember tudna ruhászkodni de nem bir hát ha csak szivetek van nyisátok fel és segitsetek rajtunk haszát vegyük bár mit is küldtök csokolok mindnyájatokat

[Page 1] Dated on October 28, 1936, Vilmány dear brother let me first praise the holy name of lord Jesus Christ forever amen. dear brother I am letting you know about my sorrowful situation(.) first the most important(,) my health is not where it should be because that wretched gout is ruining me so much these days that I can barely even move and all my other problems are numerous and not far behind(.) not only have I been a widow for the past 8 years but even my children I cannot enjoy
[Page 2] since they are so far away from me that to travel to one of them costs 14 pengős and to the other one costs 10 (,) well how can I a widow make that much money but they must go where they can make ends meet in this miserable Hungary because our situation is terrible so dear brother do not scorn my request because I am asking your dear daughters since they can also help if they want(.) dear brother those who came home from america for a vacation said whoever
[Page 3] can write or has a relative over there should all write and ask for help since there is such a terrible shortage of clothing here so what they are doing dear brother is that they are asking the english (English) for donations and then sending them home to the relatives so many receive huge packages therefore dear brother and dear Mariska please do not be ashamed to collect and send me some used clothing for I have 7 grandchildren who are without
[Upside down, top of Pages 2 and 3] because if you saw our situation your heart would go out for us and not because of our ill intentions so I am kindly asking you in the name of god to do this for me.

[Page 4] and my daughter could use even the smallest pice of rag bacause they need a lot for this many children and her husband is still suffering from the war that robbed him four and a half years and I myself am in a rather difficult situation therefore I am kindly asking you do not ignore my request(,) God will pay you back for your kindness and if you would send it with the charity love boat since that is cheap shipping(.) many donations are organized this way and even the richest over here are wearing these clothes from the english so can the poor like us(.) in God’s name we accept and thank you for them so with these thoughts I am closing my letter remaining your faithful [upside down, on top] sister(.) dear brother forgive me for writing such letter(,)
[Page 5] dear brother I am kindly asking you to do as I request and write me immediately for I am looking forward to it so much and let me know dear brother what you sent me a couple of years ago because I received an english (English) Christmas card in a registered letter and nothing else but at that time I did not live here at home but stayed with my son near the Tisza river but I received the letter much later and am wondering if there was anything else in that letter beside the Christmas card. Write me something about Vilma’s daughter and everyone else(.)
[Page 6] dear brother I understand that to you I am like a stranger because I was still a child when you last saw me but please realize that I am left alone here without parents and siblings and have been a widow for 8 years for when my husband was still alive I didn’t have any problems but now even my children are far away from me but I wish I had enough clothes to put on at least but I don’t(,) therefore if you have hearts open them and help us(,) we will use whatever you send us(.) sending kisses to everyone
